The National Patient Organization (NGO) will once again be a partner of the largest medical exhibition in Bulgaria – Bulmedica / Buldental, to be held from May 16-18, 2018.
Each day of the Exhibition will be dedicated to screening tests for various socially significant diseases, as the NGO stand (stand C12 in Hall 2) will be provided with a wealth of information materials on other diseases and health problems.
Day 1 – May 16, 2018 (Wednesday)
Within the first day of the Exhibition, from 10:00 to 16:00, a screening campaign will be carried out to measure blood sugar. The goal is an early detection of diabetes and pre-diabetes, which is extremely important for the prevention and treatment of this cruel disease. Experts from the National Association of Children and Young People with Diabetes, a member of the National Patient Organization, will advise visitors on the prevention of the disease and various aspects of life with diabetes – health insurance rights, healthy diet, exercises,etc.
Day 2 – 17 May 2018 (Thursday)
On the second day of Bulmedica / Buldental, the National patient organization has devoted itself to another socially significant disease – hepatitis. From 10:30 to 17:30 (or until tests are used up), a screening action for hepatitis C will be carried out at the Association’s booth. The test is performed with a drop of blood from the finger, while the results are obtained on the spot from representatives of the National Association for Combating Hepatitis-Hepasist within 5 to 10 minutes. There are no restrictions on the consumption of food and beverages to carry out this study.
If a positive and/or suspicious test result occurs, the person will be consulted on the spot, he will be provided with information on the disease and will be directed to in-depth laboratory research and consultations with a gastroenterologist.
At the same time, the Bulgarian Society of Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension will measure the oxygen level in arterial blood with pulsoximeter. This quick and easy study determines how well oxygenated heart-shaped parts of the body are saturated. The condition for conducting the pulse oximeter test is that the finger on which it is placed is free of nail polish / dried blood, as this may result in misreporting.
Day 3 – 18 May 2018 (Friday)
On the third day of the Exhibition, from 10:00 to 14:00, the Association “VIOM” and the National Patient Organization will hold an information and screening action on thyroid diseases. An ultrasound review and consultation with an endocrinologist will be organized within the framework of the campaign. The aim of this initiative is to increase awareness of this type of illness with a focus on early prevention and early diagnosis.
