Volunteers from the national association “Diabetes, pre-diabetes and the metabolic syndrome” participated in the Bulmedica / Buldental exhibition. We find their stand, located in Hall 1, C12, extremely easy – there is a crowd of people who are asking and interested in how to protect themselves from diabetes.
We are impressed by the young volunteer Teodora Markova. She is extremely kind and does her job with great professionalism and youthful enthusiasm. We are trying to talk to her in order to learn more about the association she is a member of.
“There are plenty of visitors, we can only have a break of about 20 minutes, everything today is quite intensive. I like to help people. As a volunteer, I met many people we helped with advice on the risk of diabetes, “explained Teddy, who pricked our finger to show how easy and quick the screening process is. “5,5 – what a great result for you!” еxclaimed the volunteer, it was obvious she loved to communicate the good news to strangers.
Teodora also told us that her volunteer organization helped her travel across Europe to help diabetics become more easily integrate into various youth events. “Many youth leaders are worried about taking people with diabetes because they are afraid something could happen to them. Our goal is to show them that this is not the case, ” concluded Theodora.
We proceed to a meeting with the chairperson of the national association “Diabetes, pre-diabetes and metabolic syndrome” Mariana Alexandrova. She was very busy answering questions from the visitors, but she took a few minutes to answer the questions of Inter Expo Center.
“Our organization helps young diabetics, families with diabetic children, diabetics at a risk of developing complications, and diabetics at a risk of social exclusion. We aim to find the risk group of people with pre-diabetes at risk of diabetes, metabolic syndrome and obesity. Our last extremely successful mission was the sports program for people with this disease. It is very important for diabetics to be physically active. At the moment, 90 persons in five Bulgarian cities engage in sport absolutely free, thanks to the company Unicoms, that believed in our idea. Another important moment for the people we help is the psychosocial support – 20 offices throughout the country take care of this, “said Mariana Alexandrova.
Mariana is a biologist and journalist. Once she finds her diabetes, she decides she should help people with a similar problem. She is pleased that there are many young people in the organization who help with their volunteer work.

The benefit of Bulmedica / Buldental – thus we can describe what is going on at the booth of the association. This human care and manifestation of humanity in the highest degree impressed every visitor. The attendees left home smiling ,being grateful for the support and assistance.
